Upper Room Connect

Privacy notice for the pilot

For people who sign up to test Upper Room Connect at Essen 2026. Last updated 3 August 2026.

Who holds your details

Upper Room Global Prayer Movement, the organiser of The Rise of the Remnants at the Grugahalle in Essen, 13 to 15 August 2026. You can reach us at app@upperroomeu.com about anything on this page.

What we collect

Four things, and only these four:

We also record the moment you ticked the consent box and which version of the wording you agreed to, and the link or tag that brought you to the page, if there was one.

We do not collect your phone number, your address, your church, your date of birth, or anything about your beliefs. There are no tracking pixels, no third party analytics, and no advertising tags on the signup page or in our emails.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

To run the pilot: to confirm your place, send you the link, remind you once, and understand how many people who signed up actually used the app.

The lawful basis is your consent, given when you ticked the box on the signup form. In full, what you agreed to was:

I agree that Upper Room can hold my name, email address, country and phone type in order to run this pilot, and can email me about it. That is three emails: a confirmation now, my access link before the event, and one reminder on the first morning. Nothing is shared or sold, and I can withdraw in one click at any time.

Consent means you are in charge of it. You can take it back at any time, and taking it back is not made difficult.

Who else sees it

Nobody. Your details are not shared, sold, rented, or handed to any partner, sponsor or church. The only third party involved is the company that delivers our email, which needs your address to put the message in your inbox and does nothing else with it.

Our emails are sent to you individually. No other recipient ever sees your address, because there is never more than one address on a message.

How long we keep it

until 31 December 2026, which gives us the event and a few months afterwards to act on what the pilot taught us. After that the personal details are deleted and only an anonymous count remains. If you withdraw before then, we stop emailing you immediately and delete your details at that point if you ask us to.

Withdrawing, and asking us to delete

You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or complain to your national data protection authority. In Germany that is the Landesbeauftragte fur Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen.

The app itself

This notice covers the pilot signup. Upper Room Connect asks for your name and country when you enter, and nothing more unless you choose to tell it something, and it explains itself at the point of asking.

How we measure whether the app works

Inside the app we record which screens people open, how long they stay, which buttons they tap and how far they get through things like signing in or filling a form. That is how we find the parts nobody can use. It is our own measurement, on our own servers. There are no third party trackers, no advertising tags and no session recordings anywhere in the app.

These records are not attached to your name. They carry a scrambled code that lets us count people without knowing who they are, and there is no screen anywhere, for anyone, that shows one person's activity. We never record what you write: not a prayer request, not a message to the helpdesk, not anything you type into the decision form. On the decision and First Steps screens we record only that the screen was open and roughly how long for. Nothing else.

We keep these records for 90 days and then delete them, keeping only anonymous totals. You can switch the measurement off at any time under More, then Privacy, in the app. Everything still works with it off, and we will not ask you again. The same screen has a button that deletes what has already been collected.
